This series comprises meeting minutes from 1963-1972 for the Executive Committee of the Board of World Missions (BWM), Lutheran Church in America (LCA). The minutes represent a record of issues addressed and actions taken by the committee, which was charged with overseeing administrative matters of the board in the time between general board meetings. This committee comprised the BWM president, vice president and five other members. It met approximately two to four times per year. Meeting minutes include a roll call of those present at the meeting; actions taken by the LCA Executive Council; business conducted during executive sessions of the committee; issues raised and actions taken regarding personnel, financial and legal matters; and any other administrative matters needing attention. These executive committee minutes are not identical to those which appear in LCA 16/1/1 Board of World Missions, Minutes, 1962-1972. Executive Committee minutes in that series are summaries of meetings that took place. The minutes in this series are the actual minutes recorded during meetings. Unfortunately, this is not a complete set. Minutes are missing for all executive committee meetings taking place in 1962, as well as meetings occurring on January 8, 1963, November 9, 1970, and May 10, 1971. For those meetings, consult LCA 16/1/1. There is no record in either this series or LCA 16/1/1 for an executive committee meeting that took place on December 6, 1971. Files are arranged chronologically.
